1. Is the pricing clear?
Look for published hourly rates and a clear list of extra charges. If a company won’t tell you its rates until you’ve given your details, ask why. You can see our prices here.
2. Is there a minimum booking?
A two or three hour minimum can double the cost of a small move. If your job is short, this matters more than the hourly rate.
3. When does the clock start?
Ask whether time is charged from when the crew arrives at your home, or from when they leave their depot. Ask how travel time is charged too.
4. What insurance do they have?
Public liability insurance covers injury and damage to property, such as walls or floors. It generally doesn’t cover your belongings while they’re in transit. Ask what’s covered and whether transit insurance is available.
5. What do real customers say?
Read recent Google reviews and look at how the business responds to problems, not just the star rating.
6. Will they recommend the right crew?
A good removalist asks about your furniture and access before suggesting a crew. One that quotes without asking anything is guessing.
7. Can they handle the awkward items?
Pianos, pool tables, heavy safes and gym equipment need the right equipment and enough people. Mention them before you book.
8. Are they easy to reach?
Call them. How quickly and clearly they answer is a good sign of how moving day will go.
